If you’re looking for a fun, relaxed, and creative day out in London, let me put you onto Bonbon Pottery in East London, Royal Wharf. My friend and I recently visited, and it turned into one of those afternoons you wish you could rewind and do again.
From the moment we walked in, the space felt welcoming and cozy. Bonbon Pottery has such a calm, creative atmosphere—perfect whether you’re artistic or just want to try something new without any pressure.
The Pottery Painting Experience
I chose to paint a mug that I plan to use for my daily matcha lattes (because everything tastes better in a mug you painted yourself). Before we started, the staff walked us through the whole process clearly and patiently. They explained how the painting works, how the colours change after firing, and shared tips on techniques and layering—ideal if it’s your first time.
Everything you need is provided, which makes the experience completely stress-free. There was a great selection of paints, brushes in different sizes, and even stencils if you wanted a bit of extra guidance with your design. It really felt like having access to a mini art studio for the afternoon.
Drinks, Chats & Creativity
As if painting pottery wasn’t enough, we also treated ourselves to drinks while we painted. I had a biscoff latte, and it was genuinely so good—sweet, comforting, and the perfect companion for a creative session. Between painting, chatting, and sipping our lattes, the time flew by.
Collecting the Finished Piece
Once we finished painting, we left our pieces with the Bonbon Pottery team to be fired and glazed. The staff were lovely throughout and explained when and how we could collect our items.
A few days later, I went back to pick up my mug—and I’m obsessed. Seeing the finished, glossy version of something I painted myself was so satisfying. Now my matcha lattes feel extra special every single morning.
Final Thoughts
Bonbon Pottery is such a gem if you’re looking for a wholesome, creative experience in London. Whether you go with friends, on a date, or even solo, it’s a lovely way to slow down, get creative, and make something meaningful.
I’d 100% recommend it and can’t wait to go back again.
