If you’re looking for a workout experience that’s as high-energy as it is high in altitude, Sweat BXR City’s Climb to the Beat class should be on your radar. Picture this: you’re on the 25th floor, the London skyline stretching out around you, and the sun streaming in as you start your climb. Sound a bit magical for a gym? That’s exactly the vibe at Sweat BXR City!
The Setting: Climbing in the Sky
Located in the heart of London, this gym takes the phrase “elevated workout” quite literally. You’ll find yourself zipping up to the 25th floor, and before you know it, you’re in a gym space that feels more like a luxury retreat than a place to break a sweat. I’ve been a member at BXR for about a year and a half now, and the combination of atmosphere, views, and intense workouts keeps me coming back.
Prepping for the Workout
Let’s get real—this class is no walk in the park! Make sure you have a quick snack before diving into the workout. With all the climbing and beat-pumping action, you’re going to want that energy boost.
When you’re all set and fueled up, you head into a studio that’s decked out with everything you need. Beautifully designed changing rooms? Check. Steam room? Double check. Plus, they provide sweat towels (and believe me, you’ll need one). It’s a luxury experience from start to finish, with none of the intimidating vibes of your typical high-rise gym.
The Workout: Climb to the Beat
This time, I joined Climb to the Beat with one of my favorite trainers, Ashleigh, who really knows how to push us to the next level. If you’re a newbie, no worries—the trainers give you a rundown on the Versa Climber, a machine that combines cardio and full-body toning in one intense session.
The class usually starts with what we call “baby steps”—a light climb to warm up. But once you’re moving, things pick up fast. You’ll alternate between medium and long-range climbs for bursts of 30, 45, and 60 seconds, keeping in sync with the beat of the music (think an energetic playlist that keeps you going!). In between each push, you’ll get a quick break back at those baby steps, and trust me, you’ll be grateful for it because by then, you’re really feeling the burn.
The best part? The screen in front of you tracks everything from your steps to the height you’ve climbed. On a good day, I reach around 4,000 feet—basically the height of a small mountain.
Wrapping It Up: Steam Room Bliss
After the class, I made a beeline for the steam room which is the perfect place to wrap things up and give those muscles some TLC.
Final Thoughts: Is Sweat BXR City Worth It?
If you’re after a workout with a view, this is the place to be. Climb to the Beat is the ultimate mix of tough, feel-good vibes and an atmosphere that can’t be beaten. Whether you’re an experienced climber or just starting out, this class will have you sweating, smiling, and (probably) taking photos in no time.
